Ambience

Ambience is stated in the Oxford dictionary (2011) as the character and atmosphere of a place but in this paper Ambience is described as a feeling or mood associated with a particular place, person or thing (Sunderland, 2010)

With card playing it makes me feel relaxed, I get a sense of peace and belonging being with people through interacting with them, I feel connected to my younger self as well as people who have played the game before me, it gives you a sense of being apart of something bigger. Because card playing for me creates such a fun and enjoyable atmosphere where people are laughing and joking you feel that sense of accomplishment when you win a hand and get enjoyment out of others people success when they win it gives you that drive to keep going and beat them.

When I am studying hard and I feel that my brain needs a break I click on the game tab on my computer an involve myself in a game of spider solitaire, it is a way for my to change my thought pattern from thinking about studying with stress and worry and think about something else. It feels like a tiny escape from the world of chaos and allows me to gather my thoughts and just concentrate on something else for a few minutes it relaxes me and i get a sense of accomplishment and pride if i win a game and puts me back in a good frame of mind to start up studying again.
